Opened in July 2010, Hotel Charles was developed to substantially improve the Launceston accommodation market by providing almost 100 guest rooms together with a restaurant/bar, guest lounge, meeting rooms and conference facilities. The Charles development was the vision of the JAC Group in close collaboration with Stay Tasmania as the Hotel represented almost half the development.

The Hotel was operated by a subsidiary of Stay Tasmania until being sold to the Mantra Group in May 2015.
